Kidnapped

(Based on a true story)

Every evening when Noura’s mother goes to sleep, Noura waits in anguish, tightly tucked in her bed, and shivering out a confusion she can’t understand. She can’t fall asleep easily although she tries to count and drink warm milk to soothe her nerves. Her best friend, a stuffed bear, wraps her body in struggling comfort. Even when she does fall into sleep, her dreams echo a trauma that bares so clearly in reality.

Every day, Noura is driven to school by her father. He is a proud Kuwaiti man with a strong and traditional Arab disposition. With a perfectly ironed dishdasha, headdress, and ornamented cufflinks, his composition is respectably intimidating. An assertive businessman by profession and from an affluent family, he knows how to lean his might onto opposing or weak prey. The same mannerisms apply at home. He is truly the master of his domain.

At the College of Arts in Keifan of Kuwait University, Noura walks with head bent to her classes. She is not sure why she has become such a recluse. Sociability used to be one of her top strengths. At 17 now, she has metamorphosed into a self-cuddling butterfly. Staying as long as possible at the College, without going home, grants Noura a freedom that is invisible once her father picks her up at the front gates. No one can superficially detect why Noura has altered. No one cares to know.

At home, and in the wee hours of the morning, Noura’s father secretly crumbles with a drunken stupor into her bedroom to read her bedtime stories. Although it is an unusual activity for her age, she finds temporary comfort in it, temporarily and numbingly escaping reality. With half-light and half-shut eyes, Noura relaxes. And in his half-state of consciousness, her father starts to fondle, touch, and glide over her body. He plays with her nipples, dips his fingers into her womanhood, and anally strokes her before vaginally stealing her. On top, he presses his hand against her mouth so that her mother won’t notice. The mother has always known, however. She refuses to directly confront her husband, and blames Noura for arousing her father. He has taken her virginity years back, but Noura doesn’t understand why it has happened. He fatherly caresses her, easing any agitation, talks in an awkward half-fatherly and half-sexual animalism during and after sex, only to penetrate her for the very short minutes of pleasure that Noura rarely ever comprehends.

Years pass and she is now 21 in her last year at university. Her social skills have illuminated, but handicapped in comparison to her peers. A famous older married Kuwaiti singer is one of her boyfriends, and another very wealthy boyfriend from the College who is her age usually picks her up. Immediately in the car, she is asked to perform oral sex. On the other hand, the other boyfriend takes her to his private apartment for sexual gratification. Pleasing the two men, including her father, is all she knows. She has never received any gratification because she has been taken. Incestually. Kidnapped by the very man she hoped to find comfort and security in.

Very brave post. She has no where she can turn, does she? There is no agency here for rape victims, male or female. There is no agency against domestic violence (and incest is a form of domestic violence). She has no protection, and those nature intended to protect her are violating her.

  2. stupid mother. stupid mother… ugh!

i dont think she would enjoy it though… i think she would also hate her father.. maybe become bulimic or anorexic – cause thats the only thing that she can control in her life…

i was very grossed out reading this lol.. which means that its SUPER good writing.. two-thumbs up!

it hit a raw nerve cause I know of a girl who actually had that happen to her :(

The mother and the father should rot in jail…

It needs a strong person to handle this post.

Reality it is, sadness it is, ugly, filthy, savage reality.

That father doesn’t worth having a child or being married, not even being alive, he should be killed and vanished from this life.

The mother, oh the mother, she shouldn’t be killed only but tortured, her skin needs to be peeled and her body should be dissect without paralyzing her.

I wonder, is the girl studying well? does she laugh? will she ever be married and have kids? what kind of a generation would she bring to this world?

Thats why people shouldn’t get married anymore, the world is having enough.

There are no words to describe how she feels … Just a different kind of pain. Numbness mixed with tears and … sickness.

They say, talk about it and it would ease the pain. Others would suggest self-healing, but that doesn’t really work. Nothing would cure incomprehensible guilt. Am sure she is feeling guilty, and that is what exactly what causes most of her pain. Unrest, and hatred.

Intlxpatr, I didn’t hear of such agencies around here. All what are offered here are family counseling and some asshole psychologist.

Cixousianpanic, its always easier to blame the weaker person, even if it is the victim itself, when you know that the guilty one is your superior.
It’s harder to take that in when the mother is the silent judge. She could be her savior, but instead, she steps back into the darkness. I never got the answer for her backwardness. It is her daughter.

Disgusted, she might be the one with the highest grades. She might be the girl laughing out loud, and she might be that one zooming the streets with her turbo ride with angry music. I believe that those who went through such experiences are the best actors around. They mask their pain and personality away, while when confronted with it in private, all the mixed up feelings would emerge to the surface and tear them apart.

Some would actually find ways to punish themselves. As I have stressed before, guilt plays a major rule in their lives. Getting married would be dream that might seem to be out of reach, or a nightmare. Having to confine a man with their lives would be more of a punishment of its own than a risk. Man was the cause of her agony.

As Tantalize have showed, she might have more than one relationship at a time, but non would be satisfying, and non would be more of an act or a job to be done. Having a man in her life is a challenge. She would have to learn to trust again. Build her confidence, and make peace with herself. Only then, she will be thinking of getting married.

What kind of a mother she will be if she ever will? Over protective? Maybe obsessed with having boys than girls to illuminate the change of their girls to go through the hell she went through.

In her cause or another’s, marriage is … a challenge.

All: Sadly, this seems to happen a lot in Kuwait amongst girls and boys. The outcome can range from hating sex with the opposite gender to loving sex as much as possible with much older father-figured men or mother-figured older women. What I couldn’t include in this segment is even young boys are molested not only by their fathers, brothers, but sisters and even mothers. The deep and very close familial bonds in this region can hurt as much as help. I have even been told by a couple of young women that their brothers choose their future husbands, pick out their underwear, and casually sleep with them, to name a few. Uncles molesting their nieces, and even nephews, are predominant here. The list goes on and on.

Noura’s case, however, is interesting because it may shed light on how a few, or perhaps more, Kuwaiti women come out the way they do as grown-ups, and how they may view intimacy later on in marriages. Lixrael has made some further interesting points too, which seem to give accurate accounts of what happens afterwards!

    Thanks all.

That happened and is currently happening across the globe, regardless of one’s location and socioeconomic status. It’s a dehumanizing sickness.

What really bothers me is that some people actually blame the victims for “inciting” the rapist, whether it be a relative or stranger. Now THAT is sick.

Erzulie: True it happens everywhere BUT in the Arab world its occurrence is outrageous why? because we don’t have severe laws to protect victims of such crimes and punish those animals, i remember reading once in one of the Kuwaiti newspapers about this guy who just got out of prison (for raping a child) and the first thing he did was rape yet another 5 year old girl! the only wish i would love to see in Kuwait is to adopt American laws regarding pedophiles and sexual abuse crimes now that’s what i call real punishment!
    Thanks.

The knowledge that nothing will ever happen to you even if you commit such a horrible crime is enough of an impulse for some people to feel that it’s “OK”.

    Sad, but true.

I have one story like this.

I studed with one girl, we were about 15-16 years. Lets call this girl Masha.
& I knew her mother, very kind & good woman, who always was glad to see us in her home.

Then one my close friend told me that Masha had problems.
Her uncle wanted to abuse her. She tried to deal with it alone, but soon understood that she could not.
    What did she do?
Like in this story… she said to her mother.
& how surprised we were to know her answer “You lie”, so simple – YOU LIE! That’s what the girl could get from her mother!
Thanks God she went to her brother who was much older… he helped. I know that nothing bad happend in result.
But from that time we never visited the house of the kindest woman.
    We could not.

But I don’t understand one thing… why did this girl became so… mmm… why all these men & guys? She decided she can’t get anything better in this life?

By drowning herself in many different men, Noura thinks she will acquire the natural love (to be needed) that she failed to get from her father. However, she is spiring out of control because she unknowingly dishes out her sex so easily instead. She has become a mere instrument for these men because they will never love and marry her after she has been so used and abused by them, and that of her father.

I got shivers down my spine reading this! Oh what I would do to that (*&#@$(@* mother! I blame it all on her, of course the father is the main villain but if the mother just once stopped him, imagine how that would’ve changed her life forever.

UUUUGGHH I wish I hadn’t read this! The day will come when both parents will get what they deserve.

that’s one of the most important & haunting things I’ve read on any site.

there is never any justification by anyone in that situation. All have reasons why they continue their behaivour.

the sad thing is molesters are often molested themselves. it’s a vicious cycle that continues.
